No, it's not a new form of spanx that are out. The Spankers are the Asylum Street Spankers (likely very familiar to you Austinites) and Mike and I had the pleasure of seeing them at a club in Harvard Sq. last night. This band is special to me not only because they're from Austin, but I've personally known Christina Marrs since my early days at UT in Austin. Throughout my four years of college, I regularly babysat her son, Sebastian, during her gigs. Sebastian is now 18 (yikes, I feel old!) and she's since added to her family with a son, Coltrane, and she has another due in January.
It was really great to see them play. They're always a very entertaining show and I miss my days of regularly going to see them (when I wasn't babysitting, of course). It was also fabulous to get to spend some time catching up with Christina. The Spankers only tour up this way about once a year and I haven't been able to make the show for the last couple of times they've been in the Boston area, so I was thrilled to be able to make it this year!
