Girls weekend

I've been a pretty lame blogger lately. What can I say, I just haven't been an inspired writer lately. However, this was a pretty big event I couldn't let pass without a post....Girls Weekend! What was a fun idea mentioned over my friend's visit in January, somehow blossomed into an actual trip. 5 of us gals got together to relax and enjoy each other's company in Charlotte, NC last weekend.

A good friend, Ana Maria, announced she was moving from the east coast for her husband's job opportunity at Apple outside of San Francisco. Before she moved from an easy flying distance, we needed to have an old group of friends gather to reminisce and create new memories. Even though a couple of gals from our group weren't able to make it, I'm quite honestly impressed that 5 of us were able to put our family, pets and lives on hold for a few days to make the trip happen.

And boy am I glad we did! It was a far cry from girls gone wild....it was more like girls gone relaxed. Somehow, we fit in everyone's needs and wishes for the weekend with ease and fluidity and still had quite a bit of time to just chill.

While all 4 of the girls traveling were making our way down to Ana Maria's house in Charlotte at the same time, we were on 2 different flights in 2 different terminals. However, even though separated by a little distance, this is how we all spent our time waiting for our flights:
Friday night was hanging at Ana Maria's house with her daughters and then had dinner and libations after the little ones retired to bed. Saturday consisted of running, yoga class, lunch outdoors, pedicures, frozen yogurt and dinner out (the little girls had a fun day with their baby sitter).

Sunday we all stuffed our faces silly at an incredible breakfast buffet then spent some time outdoors and explored the hiking trails at a place in Charlotte where apparently no alien swimming was allowed:

Hard to tell, but Ana Maria and I switched places -

Even the weather was ridiculously perfect all weekend. Warm but not hot. Sunny and a little breezy. With such a great weekend had by all, we have vowed to do girls weekend once a year. Let the girls weekend 2014 planning begin!

And while we were relaxing kid free and doing relaxing girly things, Mike and the boys had fun at home. Apparently, it was relaxing as well. Mike sent me this picture of chilled out Cade:
