Poor Mr. O

This is my new favorite picture of Oliver! He had to give the camera a sniff to check it out.
Mr. O had a bit of a rough week. He started out the week with a little cut on the back of his ear. We assumed it was a scratch taken too far (happens now and then). The next day, however, both of his ears were just covered in scratches. So, he had to take a little trip to the vet. Saying that going to the vet is not his favorite thing is the understatement of the year.

The vet thinks the scratching is due to allergies, so we got a topical ointment (he was going to get a cortisone shot until they realized he's diabetic...apparently the cortisone can throw off his blood sugar). That night, we also had to cut his nails to try and prevent him from tearing his ears up more. Again, not a favorite activity for him. Of course, the night was topped off with ointment getting applied to his ears along with his usual insulin shot. The little guy was really not happy with us!

However, the story has a happy ending because after just a couple of the days of the ointment, his ears are MUCH improved (and he seems to have fully forgiven us for the torture)!
