PR - Here on Gilligan's Isle!

For our last full day of vacation in PR, we decided not to leave the resort. After a little breakfast in our room, we slathered on the sunscreen and rented a couple of kayaks. Just around the bay from our resort is a small island that they call Gilligan's Island. There are some ferries that can take you over, but we had been wanting to kayak all week, so we worked the 25 minutes it took us to get there. On the side of the island we arrived is where all the public beach area is set up and where the ferries drop. It was a little crowded, so we decided to explore.

Through the island are 2 canals that are entirely tree lined and all you see are roots going into the water and branches up above. Very pretty! I hit a few of the trees with my oar while paddling but I'm pretty sure I didn't damage much. On the other side of the island, we found a little beach area to pull up on and it was like we had the whole island to ourselves! It was so much fun to get out and explore. We were like two kids on the shore looking for shells because they were no "ordinary" sea shells. The beach was covered in huge conch shells (much like the ones lots of folks buy in souvenir shops) and coral washed up from the reef. It was truly a treasure trove of fun! We picked up a lot and chose a few to bring home with us. Mike even found a living treasure - a little crab! I had brought my small camera for a couple of shots (the battery was low and we forgot to bring the charger) so I decided this was worth the photo op:

And then I went in for a close up of Mr. Crab. That's when he decided to give Mike a big pinch! So, here's all I got in the frame:
And then my camera died. So, unfortunately, those are the only 2 pictures of the spectacularly fun time we had on Gilligan's Island. Luckily, we didn't have to wait to get rescued and kayaked back.  The rest of the day was pretty much spent like this:
After a day of relaxing, we grabed some daiquiris and sat on the beach to enjoy our last sunset in Puerto Rico. It was a fantastic one!
We cleaned up and then had a nice, leisurely dinner at the cafe and were again serenaded by a (different) talented guitarist. We wanted to get one "nice" picture of us while in Puerto Rico, but our waitress was not good with a camera so we tried to get another shot on the patio of our room. Good night Puerto Rico!
Sunday, we got an early start, packed up, drove two hours back to San Juan and flew back to Boston. Mike's parents were nice enough to pick us up from the airport. We had dinner with them and then crashed. It had been a long travel day to end a wonderful vacation!
